Is God's Name Yahweh or Jehovah?

Christian: God’s name is Jehovah!

Muslim: Yahweh & Jehovah are two different pronunciations of the same Hebrew phrase "I am". Children of Israel demanded to know God’s name. Moses let God know their demand, so God said-“I am who I am, so go tell them that I have sent you to them. Go tell them the God of their forefathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob has sent you to them. This is my name for ever. This is my memorial name to all generation.” "(Exodus 3:14-15).

Jews and Christians claim God’s name is “I am” because God says “I am who I am”. Poor Jews and Christians don’t understand the difference between “I am who I am” and “My name is I am”.

What does it mean when a person says “I am who I am”? It means “I be myself”. What does it mean when a person says “You are who you are”? It means “You be yourself”.

Right after God says he is who he is, he says who he is. He says he is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. And God wants all generation to remind him as “God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob”.

“Yahweh” or “I am” is not the name of God. A website of Hebrew Christians commented on the name of God like this-

It is very clear according to the website of Hebrew Christians that God does not have a name other than his attributes. God’s attributes (e.g., the most high, the most powerful, the creator of the heavens and the earth) are his names. This is very similar to the Islamic concept of God, by the way. One may ask why God does not have a name other than his attributes. God wants his name to be meaningful. God does not want names that have no meaning. Many people have names that do not have any meaning but they sound good. God does not want names that may sound good but do not have any meaning, especially the meanings that do not represent his attributes.

Christian: So the Jews mistook it? Wow, 5,000 years of history and they got it wrong? Are you serious?

Muslim: Jews don't accept Jesus as the Messiah. They got it wrong too, right? Your argument sucks.

Christian: So you read this ONE line in isolation against the plain verses 5,882 of them, where it says his name is Jehovah?

Muslim: You’re failing to understand that all those 5,882 verses were written after Exodus 4:14. The so called name of God “Yahweh” or “Jehovah was first introduced by God himself in Exodus 4:14. And then Jewish and Christian scholars used this name later when writing their religious scriptures.

(That Christian never replied back to me because he understood he was wrong.)

Mohamed meets Jesus

God's Apostle (Mohamed) said, "I dreamt myself circumambulating around the house of God. Behold, I saw a reddish-white man with lank hair, and water was dropping from his head. I asked, "Who is this?' They replied, 'The son of Mary (Jesus).' Then I turned my face to see another man with a huge body, red complexion and curly hair and blind in one eye. His eye looked like a protruding out grape. They said (to me), he is Dajjal (Anti-Christ)." (Sahih al-Bukhari, 9:88:242)

God's Apostle (Mohamed) talked to them about the night of his Ascension to the Heavens. He said, "Then Gabriel took me and ascended up till he reached the second heaven where he asked for the gate to be opened, but it was asked, 'Who is it?' Gabriel replied, 'I am Gabriel.' It was asked, 'Who is accompanying you?' He replied, 'Mohamed.' It was asked, 'Has he been called?' He said, 'Yes.' When we reached over the second heaven, I saw John the Baptist and Jesus who were cousins. Gabriel said, 'These are John and Jesus, so greet them.' I greeted them and they returned the greeting saying, 'Welcome, O Pious Brother and Pious Prophet!' " (Sahih al-Bukhari, Book #55, Hadith #640)
God's Apostle (Mohamed) said, "On the night of my Ascension to Heaven, I saw (the prophet) Moses who was a thin person with lank hair. And I saw Jesus who was of average height with red face as if he had just come out of a bathroom. And I resemble Prophet Abraham more than any of his offspring does. Then I was given two cups, one containing milk and the other wine. Gabriel said, 'Drink whichever you like.' I took the milk and drank it. Gabriel said, 'You have accepted what is natural, (Islam) and if you had taken the wine, your followers would have gone astray.' " (Sahih al-Bukhari, Book #55, Hadith #607)

Who is Jesus?

Christian: Jesus is God!

Muslim: Where does it say in the bible that Jesus is God? I wouldn't worship Allah if the Quran didn't say Allah is God. I can give you hundreds of verses from the Bible that clearly says "Jesus is a man". On the other hand, you can't find me a single verse from the Bible that says "Jesus is God". The best you can do is to quote a bunch of ambiguous verses those are open to numerous interpretations and claim those ambiguous verses "actually" mean "Jesus is God". Pathetic.

Christian: Do you reduce God to words in a book? Are you quite certain you believe in God?

Muslim: You asked me if I reduce God to words in a book. First, It's not "a book". It’s "the Bible". Second, what is the Bible? The Bible is God's words. Do you think God is incapable to describe himself in words? Your attempt to divert the truth is pathetic. I invite you to the truth. I invite you to Islam. Choose your own destiny either in the truth or in the falsehood. I'm just a warner.

Christian: The Bible is not God There is nothing more to the savage cult of Islam than book idolatry. Always fascinating to know how cavemen grunting for meat think would have thought.

Muslim: Please learn how to act civilized. There is no need to bad mouth other people's religions who don't agree with you. I tried to reason with you about your irrational religious beliefs but I never badmouthed your religion.

I made a mistake trying to reason with an uncivilized person like you. You miserably failed to give me a single unambiguous verse from the bible that says "Jesus is God". You took your failure to face my challenge as an insult for you and stated to bad mouth my religion to get rid of the frustration. Pathetic.

Reference:

The Bible says about God-"God is NOT A MAN, that he should lie; NEITHER THE SON OF MAN." (Numbers 23:19)

The Bible says about Jesus- "Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, A MAN approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know" (Acts 2:22)

Points to be noted:
1) Jesus is a man among Jews who was selected by God.
2) God performed miracles by Jesus to show the Jews the signs of God.
